Plain-English summary: Hive UK's website uses only essential cookies required to make it work. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that profile you. The mobile app does not use cookies.

1 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site.

Similar technologies — such as local storage, session storage, and device fingerprinting — can serve similar purposes. This policy covers all such technologies used on hive-uk.co.uk.

2 How We Use Cookies

Hive UK's website uses cookies only where strictly necessary to:

  • Remember your session if you access any authenticated web features
  • Maintain your cookie consent preference so we do not ask you repeatedly
  • Protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF)

We do not use cookies for:

  • Advertising or retargeting
  • Cross-site tracking
  • Selling data to third-party advertisers
  • Building behavioural profiles for commercial purposes

3 Cookies We Set

No analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies are set by hive-uk.co.uk.

4 Third-Party Cookies

We embed the following third-party content on our website, which may set their own cookies:

Service Purpose Category Their Policy

Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) Serves Playfair Display and Plus Jakarta Sans typefaces Functional Google Privacy Policy
jsDelivr CDN Serves Bootstrap CSS/JS and Bootstrap Icons Functional jsDelivr Privacy Policy

We have no control over cookies set by these third parties. Please review their respective privacy policies for details. Google Fonts is loaded in a way that minimises data sent to Google's servers.

5 The Mobile App

The Hive UK mobile application (Android and iOS) does not use browser cookies. Instead it uses:

  • Encrypted secure storage on your device to hold your JWT authentication token — this is never transmitted beyond the authentication flow.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device tokens for push notification delivery. These are held on Firebase's servers under our Data Processing Agreement. See our Privacy Policy for details.

6 Your Choices

6.1 Cookie Banner

When you first visit hive-uk.co.uk you will be shown a cookie consent banner. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies at that point. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for this site.

6.2 Browser Settings

All modern browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the website from working correctly. Guidance for major browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

6.3 Do Not Track

We respect the Do Not Track (DNT) browser signal. When DNT is enabled we do not set any non-essential cookies.

7 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if we change the technologies we use. Any material changes will be notified via a prominent notice on the website. The current version is always available at hive-uk.co.uk/cookie.html.
